Mobile gamers get Need for Speed

Electronic Arts announces mobile version of Need For Speed: Most Wanted

Due for release on multiple formats at the end of the year, EA's popular illegal street racing franchise gains an exclusive mobile version.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is the latest in the long-running racing series, which saw a renewed surge in sales following the release of Need for Speed: Underground in 2003. The Underground franchise has received universal industry and consumer acclaim and has so far sold more than 15 million copies worldwide.

Featuring over 40 races and numerous race modes, the mobile phone version of the game will also offer users a special 'quick-play' mode which has been specifically designed for short games on mobile phone platform. A lengthier single player career mode is also promised.

EA strengthened its commitment to mobile gaming recently with an exclusive deal with wireless games firm Digital Bridges. The deal, which was announced at the European Games Network conference, grants Digital Bridges the exclusive rights to distribute all EA mobile games in Europe and the Americas.

Previously announced games forming part of the Digital Bridges deal covered major EA franchises including FIFA, Tiger Woods PGA Golf, The Sims and Need for Speed Underground 2.

The mobile version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be available for download this autumn, although no official release date has been confirmed so far. The title will also be released on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, PSP, GameCube, DS and GameBoy Advance in November.
