Microsoft to open London store in 2013 - report

First UK retail location due to open in March next year following launch of online store this summer

Microsoft is planning to launch its own retail store in London in March next year, The Verge reports.

The information was leaked by "sources familiar with the company's plans." The retail store will open in March 2013, following the launch of an online store later this summer.

The company revealed plans to open 75 stores over the next two years at its Worldwide Partner Conference. Microsoft currently has 19 stores - mainly in North America - but the London launch will mark its entry into UK retail.

The rumour is lent credence by the fact that Microsoft became officially incorporated in the UK in March - a necessary step for establishing a retail location in the country.
