Microsoft launches New Xbox Experience

Capcom's Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix to be among the first titles offered on the new service

Microsoft has launched the latest update to Xbox Live dubbed the New Xbox Experience.

The update went live around 10AM GMT when Xbox owners were prompted to download the new user interface, including the Mii-like Avatars from Rare. NXE now offers three titles that make use of the custom built Avatars, including A Kingdom for Keflings, Uno and Hardwood Hearts - all available through Xbox Live Arcade.

Some users had to a wait a number of hours to receive the prompt to download the update, according to Xbox Live's Major Nelson, who listed the top ten things to do once NXE has been installed, such as creating a customised Avatar and downloading disc games onto the console's hard drive for increased performance.

"The New Xbox Experience is in the process of being deployed to all Xbox LIVE members," he explained. "But it will take a few hours for everyone to get the prompt to update to NXE... be patient!"

Capcom revealed that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for Xbox Live Arcade will be one of the first games to be featured in the New Xbox Experience.

"With 1080p high-definition art and graphics, and the ultimate user feature set, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is the perfect game to compliment the New Xbox Experience," said Christian Svensson, VP of strategic planning and business development at Capcom Entertainment.

"Capcom is dedicated to providing captivating content to the digital space and we're proud to participate in this new era of Xbox Live."

Microsoft later announced that the pop group Sugarbabes would be hosting a launch event tomorrow night with a special performance in central London.

"Just created my very own Avatar, can't wait to explore the rest of the NXE," commented user, Triick x, on the Xbox forums.

Azzibinks, another forum user, added: "New Xbox Experience is pretty sweet, my Avatar [has] plenty of customisation options, and the option to install to hard drive is excellent - shame I only got a 20gb HD."
