Majesco trims losses with new budget focus

Majesco has managed to trim it's losses for the first quarter of the financial year, although sales were down due the shift away from publishing big budget titles.

Sales were down to USD 14.5 million (EUR 10.9m), compared to USD 21.6 million (EUR 16.2m) last year, while losses were USD 926,000 (EUR 696,000) for the first three months ended January 2007, compared to USD 2.6 (EUR 1.9m) million in 2006.

With the publisher now focused on mass market games, it revealed that 99 per cent of the first quarter results came from such titles, as well as promising more support for the Nintendo DS and Wii.

"We remain optimistic about the successes of both the Nintendo DS and Wi systems as their installed bases continue to grow, and we will focus the majority of our game development efforts on these platforms," commented Jesse Sutton, CEO of Majesco.

"We will continue to execute on our mass market growth strategy with a focus on publishing quality, easy to play, affordable games that appeal to a broad audience," he added.
