Live-action Twisted Metal TV series moving forward

Sony's vehicular combat franchise has an adaptation in development from the writers of Deadpool

Sweet Tooth is coming to life, thanks to a live-action adaptation of Twisted Metal that is officially in the works.

As reported by Variety, the car-combat video game series is getting a live-action TV series in a joint production between Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.

The series will be an action comedy written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers behind Zombieland and the Deadpool films.

"We are thrilled to have such a great team working on bringing this iconic game to life for the fans," Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, told Variety.

Michael Jonathan Smith, who wrote and produced the Cobra Kai series, will write and executive produce on Twisted Metal.

Will Arnett will executive produce through his Electric Avenue production company, alongside Marc Forman and Peter Principato.

Though Sony's attempts to get an Uncharted film underway have hit a number of roadblocks over the years, it is making some headway with its TV-and-film ambitions.

PlayStation Productions recently confirmed that The Mandalorian actor Pedro Pascal would portray Joel in an HBO adaptation of The Last of Us.
