Kongregate opens Montreal office

Digital publisher's first Canadian branch looks to capitalize on the local indie development scene

Kongregate continues to disseminate its operations. The digital publisher today announced the opening of its new Montreal office, the first branch of the company outside the US.

"Montreal has become a hotspot for game development with a strong and diverse talent pool," Kongregate CEO and co-founder Emily Greer said. "Expanding our resources and time zones allows us as a company to be closer to our Canadian and European partners."

While Montreal may be best known for mammoth AAA studios, Kongregate is specifically interested in the city's indie game development scene. It already has an established relationship with Montreal's four-person development studio Juicy Beast, and hopes the new office will foster further collaborations along those lines.

Kongregate's Montreal office is its fifth outpost, joining the headquarters in San Francisco and offices in Portland, San Diego, and Chicago.
