Kabam founder forms blockchain gaming startup Forte

Kevin Chou hopes to encourage adoption of blockchain in the gaming industry by building, supporting new projects

Today, Kabam founder Kevin Chou alongside veterans of GarageGames, Unity, and Linden Lab announced the foundation of blockchain gaming platform startup Forte.

Forte's platform aims to increase and speed up adoption and integration of blockchain technology in the gaming industry. It plans to build, incubate, and fund teams and projects that are using blockchain for their game economies.

The company is led by Kabam founder Kevin Chou as CEO. He is joined by former GarageGames and Unity GM Brett Seyler, Kabam veterans Kent Wakeford and Weiwei Geng, and technology investor Mahesh Vellanki, all as fellow co-founders.

"The microtransaction-driven game industry has matured and consolidated, and as a result innovation has grown stagnant," Chou said. "Blockchain technology offers new growth vectors and an opportunity to do things differently. We are focused on making blockchain technology ready for the mass market and working closely with developers to create player-driven game economies that benefit both players and developers."
