What is Interstellar Marines?

Interstellar Marines is the worlds first truly independent AAA blockbuster game. The goal is to create a trilogy of games that can rival huge blockbusters games both in terms of graphics and gameplay. Interstellar Marines is made with help from the community that support the development by buying Spearhead or Frontline accounts with perks such as early access to every new update from Interstellar Marines, including the upcoming multiplayer mode and a digital copy of the Interstellar Marines trilogy when its released. In return the users get to have a say in the making of Interstellar Marines.

Gifts that keep on giving

As a part of the holiday cheer new users will be able to pick up Spearhead and Frontline accounts with 25% discounts at the interstellarmarines.com shop from the 22 nd of December to the 3 rd of January. For our existing Spearheads and Frontliners, we’ve also prepared an exclusive Christmas mini-game.

We also invite new users to experience Interstellar Marines’ previous releases, Bullseye and The Vault.  Feel like testing your raw shooting skills against helpless synthetic cut-outs? Bullseye is the training facility for you; a veritable gauntlet of weapons target practice aboard the AIV Kitty Hawk. Meanwhile, The Vault provides an enticing 3D tour of environments and units from the ever-growing Interstellar Marines universe.

Part II

Creating the indie dream

Interstellar Marines is the brainchild and dream of Game Director Kim Haar Jørgensen and Co-founder Nicolai Grønborg (CEO) who came up with the initial concept during a family party way back in 1993, it was however not until 2006 that the development of IM started with the creation of Zero Point Software.

From the get go the ambition was to make the most believable and immersive sci-fi first person shooter on the planet. No laser, no needle guns and no big bulky energy armors, but instead a realistic future were mankind is about to have its first meeting with another sentient species.

Interstellar Marines is about evolving the FPS-genre with the ideas and inspirations that the team has collected since the birth of the genre. An evolutionary step driven forward by their compulsive interest for science fiction, role-playing, military realism, immersion, cooperative multiplayer and a great unpredictable story.

AAA indie

Interstellar Marines is developed and published free from the tight reins of big publishers that normally control every creative aspect of the game. Instead it’s the users themselves that finance the game by preordering the Interstellar Marines online or buying special accounts that grants access to parts of the game that is released online. In return the players get to influence the game by making suggestions on the community site, thereby making it their own game.

So far 55.000 users signed up for the dream to gain early access to the three small games that has already been released: the shooting range Bullseye, the interactive 3D tour The Vault and the newest release Running Man.

With each release the players get a sneak peak in to the universe of Interstellar Marines, but at the same time they help test and improve important core mechanics of the game through their feedback and suggestions, for example weapon handling in Bullseye and movement in Running Man.
