Imagine closes Total PC Gaming magazine

Publication run ends with issue 31; subscribers offered refunds

Imagine Publishing has closed its specialist games magazine Total PC Gaming.

Last month managing director Damian Butt told GamesIndustry.biz that the publication was profitable, but the lack of support from retail for the PC market was hindering its potential for growth.

"We have had fantastic support from our advertisers on Total PC Gaming, and outperformed our expectations, but I would much rather have a talented team working on a magazine where there is a greater future upside, such as our new launch How it Works, because it takes as much effort to make a magazine that generates a good profit as one that makes very little," he said.

Subscribers to the magazine have received a letter from Imagine informing them that issue 31 was the final issue, with the company offering alternative subscriptions and refunds.

Other games magazines in Imagine's portfolio include GamesTM, Retro Gamer and Power Station.

GamesIndustry.biz has asked Imagine for comment.
