To celebrate the release of Guitar Hero® 5 , the latest entry in the phenomenally successful music game franchise, British pop sensation Pixie Lott today launched the UK leg of the European 'jump in, jump out' Guinness World Records recognised attempt for the largest number of participants to play in a single Guitar Hero session over a 24-hour period.

To celebrate the long-awaited European release of Guitar Hero® 5, the latest entry in the phenomenally successful music game franchise, countries across Europe are competing to set a new Guinness World Records recognised achievement for the largest number of participants to play in a single Guitar Hero session over a 24-hour period.

Pitting all the European nations against one another, the record attempt that is now running was launched by British singer-songwriter Pixie Lott and utilises Guitar Hero 5’s innovative new Party Play Mode, which allows players to jump in or drop out, or switch difficulty level at any time without interrupting the jam session. With record attempts taking place simultaneously in cities across the continent, old rivalries are sure to rear their heads as each country battles to claim the Guinness World Records recognised achievement and be crowned champion!

Guitar Hero 5 launches in the UK on Friday 11th September, and features some of music's leading bands and artists across a multitude of genres and allows players to step into the spotlight as iconic rockers of the past, present and future with an all-star line-up of in-game playable characters, including Kurt Cobain, Johnny Cash, Carlos Santana, Garbage's Shirley Manson and Matt Bellamy of Muse.

Guitar Hero 5 expands and innovates on the timeless easy to pick up/difficult to master gameplay mechanics introduced in Guitar Hero®. Delivering all-new exciting and compelling ways for people to personalise and customise their music experience, Guitar Hero 5 allows fans to change the way traditional bands play by being able to rock with any instrument for multiple vocalists, guitarists, bassists, and drummers, in any game mode. Featuring genre-defining hits from some of the biggest rock artists and bands of all time, including The White Stripes, Kings of Leon and Bob Dylan, the track list is comprised of 100% Master recordings. Players take complete control as Guitar Hero 5 allows gamers to personalise and customise how they experience music by being able to play with any in-game instrument combination -- multiple vocalists, guitarists, bassists and drummers, in any game mode. With the game’s all-new Party Play Mode, getting the band back together has never been easier. Players can now jump in or drop out of gameplay seamlessly, without interrupting their jam session.

Guitar Hero 5 is being developed by Neversoft Entertainment for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and the PLAYSTATION®3 and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment systems.
