GigaWorks G550W Speakers: The Choice For Wireless Connectivity With Amazing Audio Quality

Wireless signal transmission to rear speakers for amazing surround in games, music and movies

London; 18th July 2006: Creative (Nasdaq: CREAF) the worldwide leader in digital entertainment products for the personal computer and the Internet, announces the GigaWorks G550W 5.1 speaker system. Featuring 2.4GHz technology for wireless surround sound transmission to the two rear speakers over distances up to 30 feet/6 metres, this THX-certified system offers all the power and performance of the existing GigaWorks ProGamer G500 speaker system to deliver rich, powerful surround sound for games, music and movies.

"We took all our GigaWorks experience in award-winning 5.1 engineering and leveraged it to add wireless flexibility. Now people can enjoy full surround sound in GigaWorks quality without running cables to the rear speakers" says Andrew Barker, European Business Manager for Speakers with Creative.

The GigaWorks G550W features 2.4GHz wireless technology which not only ensures strong, clear signal transmission to the rear speakers but was specifically designed to be immune from mobile phone interference. The rear speakers, which require only a single socket to draw their power, receive music signals via a compact wireless receiver that can be positioned discretely in the rear of the room.

The GigaWorks G550W is based on the popular design and technology of the GigaWorks ProGamer G500, recipient of numerous awards. It delivers 310 Watts of total RMS power and features a 130 Watts RMS wooden subwoofer with an eight-inch, long-throw driver and twin Flared Dyna-Ports to maximise airflow for deep, intense bass. Each of the five satellite speakers has a three-inch, full-range driver with a Flared Dyna-Port that extends the low to mid-range frequency response.

The GigaWorks G550W is packed with professional touches usually found in high-end home theatre equipment. Each satellite features spring clips that give users the flexibility to adjust or substitute signal wires, plus standard connectors for speaker stands or wall-mounting. The wireless remote gives control over total system volume, subwoofer output, and front, rear and centre channel levels. It can also control play, pause, mute, track selection and audio mode on compatible Creative Zen MP3 players.

A great partner for gaming consoles and DVD players.

As well as outstanding performance when connected to the PC, the GigaWorks G550W is great with gaming consoles and DVD players too. Used with Creative's Decoder DDTS-100 (available separately) it delivers a powerful surround experience with consoles such as Sony's PlayStation 2 and Microsoft's Xbox 360, benefiting from the DDTS-100's extensive connectivity and support for the most popular audio standards such as Dolby® Digital EX, DTS®-ES, Dolby® Pro Logic® II and Neo:6.
