Ghost of Tsushima passes 5m sold

Sucker Punch's game is the fastest selling new IP for the PS4 from a Sony first-party studio

Ghost of Tsushima has sold five million copies since launch -- yet another success story for PlayStation's first-party studios.

Sucker Punch Productions' exclusive was released on July 17 this year, and PlayStation Worldwide Studios boss Herman Hulst tweeted that it has now surpassed five million units sold.

Hulst also noted that it is the fastest selling new IP from a first-party studio on PlayStation 4 -- moving ahead of Guerrilla's Horizon: Zero Dawn, which actually sold more units than Ghost of Tsushima in the three days after launch.

It is another hit in what has been a remarkable generation for Sony's first-party studios, which has also included Naughty Dog's Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part 2, and Sony Santa Monica's God of War.

The biggest success story of all, however, is Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man, which sold more than 13 million units in less than a year.

Earlier this week, we spoke to composer Ilan Eshkeri about his work writing the music for Ghost of Tsushima -- you can read the interview here.
