GGWP raises $12m in seed funding

Investment to go towards technology to help reduce toxicity within online gaming communities

Gaming moderation platform GGWP announced that it has raised $12 million in seed funding for development of technology to aid in reducing toxicity in online games.

GGWP's system in part provides details around reported player issues which includes reputation scores, credibility, and a person's history to help developers address negative community experiences.

The funding round was led by Bitkraft Ventures with additional funding from Makers Fund, Griffin Gaming partners, Sony Innovation Fund, Riot Games, and others.

The company was founded in 2020 by George NG, Dennis Fong, and Kun Gao with the mission "to democratize positive play using technology."

"There's a lot of research that shows bad behavior is bad for business," said CEO of GGWP Fong.

"22% of players have quit playing a game due to toxicity. With GGWP, we are modernizing game moderation. With the ability to respond at scale, we can dramatically improve game experiences, and in turn, improve game businesses."
