German distributor EuroVideo Medien enters mobile games market

Firm expands new games label Wild River to encompass smart devices with three upcoming releases

EuroVideo Medien is the newest entry into the mobile market, having secured the publishing rights for a trio of titles.

The German firm is best known as an independent distributor of DVDs, Blu-ray and video on demand in its home market, but last month it formed a new games label Wild River.

This segment of the business has handled the release for PC and console titles such as The Dwarves, Everspace, Windstorm and Fox N Forests - and now it is expanding into mobile games.

The first three titles in this offering will include Daedalic Entertainment's point-and-click adventure Fire, indie interactive pop-up book Knitterbande and Morphicon's strategy title Ghost Tappers. All three have been developed in Germany.

"The mobile market is a cornerstone of our publishing strategy", said Wild River's head of games Marc Wardenga. "But of course, we know that we're not going to conquer the most fiercely competitive gaming market in the world overnight.

"We are deliberately launching with a diversified portfolio, both because it gives us the opportunity to learn a lot and because it allows us to show the level of quality people can expect from us."

Wild River expects to release at least half a dozen titles by the end of 2018.
