GCA Games Convention Asia

GC Asia Conference (GCAC)

Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre (September 17-20, 2009)

LEIPZIG, Germany and SINGAPORE – September 9, 2009 – The organizers of the GC Asia Conference (GCAC) today announced that the conference will feature multiple sessions devoted to online gaming and the emergence of new business models for the segment. With ‘The Use of Microtransactions in Asia’, and ‘Free-to-Play Online Games’ will give attendees an overview of the current market for online games, what works in Asia, how games are monetized, and key lessons learned from launching titles in the region and around the world. GCA and GCAC take place September 17-20, 2009, in Singapore at the Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre Singapore.

“Online games are growing at a staggering rate and new business models are coming to maximize the monetization potential of titles with all target audiences,” said Jorg Zeissig, Managaing Director of LMI Asia Pte Ltd. “Our goal is to give attendees access to insiders that know the market trends, and crucial information for success in today’s environment. We believe these panels, as well as other sessions that will touch on online gaming at GCAC, will provide an excellent knowledge base for people entering the market, as well as veterans.”

‘The Use of Micro-transactions in Asia’ features Ganesh Kumar Bangah, CEO of MOL, Roderick Chia, VP of Special Projects for IAH Games, and Hampus Soderstrom, CEO of Nabistudio. Focused on current and future micro-transaction and item models for games, this panel will give attendees a look into what is and isn’t working in monetization, as well as trends which will emerge in the coming years.

The ‘Free-to-Play Online Games’ panel features industry veterans including Nils-Holger Henning, CCO of Bigpoint, Monte Singman, CEO of Radiance and Shailesh Naik, Matchmove Games. The panel will be moderated by MMO industry veteran, Sean Kauppinen, CEO of International Digital Entertainment Agency and focus on the proliferation of free-to-play games, the different item and service models, and lessons learned from the last five years.
