GameSpy to provide multiplayer tech for Crysis

IGN Entertainment's GameSpy has announced a licensing deal to incorporate its multiplayer online technology into Crytek's upcoming Crysis game.

Under the agreement, Crytek will utilize a wide range of GameSpy technologies such as instant messaging, rosters, statistics, and matchmaking.

"By incorporating our leading online gaming and community technology into Crysis, GameSpy has formed a valuable partnership with Crytek, a true innovator in next-generation gaming,â said IGN's Jamie Berger.

"As GameSpy continues to expand its suite of in-game, web, and desktop gaming technologies, we will continue to align ourselves with world-class developers and highly-anticipated titles such as Crysis.â

GameSpy will also be hosting a beta test program for Crysis at FilePlanet, giving Crytek the ability to test Crysis with gaming enthusiasts before its November release.
