Gamesload expands across Europe

UK, Ireland and others gain access to Germany's biggest download service

German download service Gamesload has announced plans to expand into twenty countries across Europe, including the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Poland and Norway.

Owned by Deutsche Telekom, the largest telecommunications company in Europe, Gamesload has been a market leader in its home country since 2006. It currently offers over 2,500 products for download, including a portfolio of up to 1,500 PC and casual games.

"Internationalising of our Gamesload service means that we are scaling our games download business into a number of new markets. We are confident that the expertise we have gained as market leader in Germany will enable us to become a central point of contact for games fans on the internet in other European countries," said Deutsche Telekom's Harald Eisenächer.

Despite the expansion the business still lacks representation in some key markets, including France, Italy and Spain. Nevertheless, Gamesload is looking to offer publishing partners online distribution deals on a "Europe-wide" basis.
