Fischer to lead Square Enix in US

Ex-Microsoft exec Mike Fischer takes senior position at Final Fantasy publisher

Mike Fischer, a twenty-year veteran of the games business with experience at Namco, Sega and Microsoft, has been appointed president and chief executive of Square Enix in the US.

Fischer will be responsible for Square Enix, Eidos and Taito brands in the Americas. He was most recently consumer and online marketing officer for Microsoft in the UK.

"We are pleased to have the benefit of Mike's global leadership experience in interactive entertainment and look forward to the significant contribution he will bring to the growth of our North American business," said CEO Yoichi Wada.

John Yamamoto, previous CEO and president of the US for the publisher, will now become executive advisor.
