London (11th September 2009) – Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces that new downloadable add-on content for FINAL FANTASY® IV: THE AFTER YEARS™ will be available to download via WiiWare™ for the Nintendo Wii™ from today.

FINAL FANTASY IV: THE AFTER YEARS was released as a downloadable cellular phone application in February 2008 in Japan. It has since been lauded for its deep storytelling, and over a year after its release, has been downloaded over 3.5 million times.

18 years after FINAL FANTASY IV first stole the hearts of Japanese gamers, the adventure continues in FINAL FANTASY IV: THE AFTER YEARS.

The game focuses primarily on Ceodore, son of FINAL FANTASY IV heroes Cecil and Rosa. He is ably supported by a host of familiar faces from the original cast who star in a series of additional tales.

STORY

The wars of the past have come to a close, the Lunarians and their moon are a distant memory. Peace has returned to the Blue Planet, and former prosperity has been rediscovered. Yet, new winds of change are about to sweep over the land. As the Crystals glow quietly, the dark shadows of the world stir anew. A new moon appears in the sky...

Against the wishes of his mother Queen Rosa, Ceodore, prince of the kingdom of Baron, enlists in the elite Red Wings air force in order to earn his knighthood.

The Red Wings are assaulted by a swarm of monsters. Finding himself the sole survivor, Ceodore is rescued from his ordeal by a wandering swordsman.
