DeNA predicts $1.4bn revenue for fiscal 2010
Ngmoco owner has "historic" fifth consecutive growth quarter
Japanese mobile/social giant DeNA has raised its expected revenues for the last financial year to ¥113 billion ($1.39 billion), and net income to ¥30.7 billion ($378 million.)
This follows a third quarter (ended December 31) in which the company raised revenues of ¥29 million ($362 million). This up 153 per cent on the same time last year.
Net income for the quarter was ¥8162 million ($100 million), up some 173 per cent on Q3 of DeNA's 2009 financial year. The firm observed that "Net sales and operating income both reached historic highs for the fifth consecutive quarter."
The bulk of the company's sales comes from its MobageTown and Yahoo! Mobage social platforms for phones, which as of December boasts 24.48 million registered users –entirely from Japan.
The firm bought mobile developer Ngmoco for $403 million last year, as part of a plan to expand to the West.
Already, DeNA has released the first Android versions of its software, and signed a deal with Samsung to have Mobage bundled on its new smartphones.
