Crytek, Playfish and Sony confirmed for GDC Europe 2010

New Games, Movies and TV track also announced for conference

GDC Europe has confirmed its first speakers for the 2010 event and also a new Games and Movies/TV track - a one day track that aims to provide attendees with advice for adapting content from the silver screen into successful games.

The first speakers confirmed for the event are from Crytek, Playdom, Playfish and Sony Europe.

Bernd Diemer, producer at Crytek will speak on imaginary places, strange maps and how pop culture resonates past media borders, while Playfish's Jeff Valadare's will speak on intuition versus metrics.

Seb Canniff of Sony Europe will deliver a session on budgets, and Playdom's Steve Meretzky, VP of game design, and Dave Rohrl, executive producer will speak on the year in social games.

Meanwhile, the event's new Games and Movies/TV track will take place on the first day of the conference (Monday August 16) and aims to provide a roadmap for adapting film and TV into games.

Talks, workshops and roundtables will be led by speakers including Jörg Tittel, producer, director and writer at BreakThru Films.

"The industry has seen much success in the cross-over between games and film. With the addition of the Games & Movies/TV Track at GDC Europe, we expect our conference to continue to offer ground breaking topics and business opportunities for game developing professionals," said Frank Sliwka, event director of GDC Europe.

"Anyone looking to fully understand the future of game development, from online and social games to the challenges of uniting the worlds of games and movies, will be in Cologne this summer."

GDC Europe will take place between August 16-18 at the Cologne Congress Center in Germany. Early registration discounts are available until July 21.
