Crystal Defenders

Square Enix's tower defence game available for PSP download from today.

London (29th October 2009) – Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces that the tower defence simulation game CRYSTAL DEFENDERS™, will be available to download from today via PlayStation®Network for the recently launched PSP®go system and the PSP, priced €9.99.

Featuring jobs and locations from FINAL FANTASY TACTICS® A2: Grimoire of the Rift™, CRYSTAL DEFENDERS requires players to strategically deploy units to fend off encroaching enemy hordes and prevent them from stealing their party's crystals. New valuable allies, spectacular esper summons and unit enhancing Power Crystals will add extra tactical depth to this new and exciting instalment in the CRYSTAL DEFENDERS saga.

Larry Sparks, Vice President Brands PAL Region of Square Enix Ltd. comments, “Previously released for PlayStation®3 download, CRYSTAL DEFENDERS is an exhilarating tactical challenge that everyone can enjoy, and now it’s playable on the go. The game’s release on PSP shows Square Enix’s ongoing commitment to creating high quality games for download.”

In a land ruled by might and magick, peace is ensured by the benevolent power of the crystals. When a young moogle charged with guarding these crystals learns of an evil presence gathering on the horizon, he calls upon heroes from the far corners of the realm to join forces and stand against this new threat.

Wielders of blade and bow, keepers of arts arcane, unite! As darkness draws nigh, only you can protect the light that binds us. The fate of Ivalice lays in the hands of...the Crystal Defenders!

CRYSTAL DEFENDERS is simple and easy to learn – monsters will enter an area and march through it until they are defeated or reach an exit, at which time they will steal one or more crystals. It is up to the player to decide – by pausing the action at crucial moments – when and where to deploy various jobs such as Black Mages or Soldiers that will attempt to defend the party’s crystals. Factors such as map terrain, monster strengths and weaknesses, job attributes, and more will play a crucial role in determining what steps a player should take.

In addition to improved controls, there are also maps and areas not found in other versions of Crystal Defenders.

Featuring jobs, monsters, and areas found in FINAL FANTASY TACTICS A2: Grimoire of the Rift players can visit the magical world of Ivalice once again.

The introduction of unit enhancing Power Crystals allows for exciting new strategies.
