Chinese social games firm Happy Elements nets $30m

Company looking to expand into Western markets, smartphone gaming

Chinese social gaming firm Happy Elements has raised a further $30 million in series B funding led by Legend Capital, as well as existing investor DCM.

The company was founded in 2009 with eight staff and now boasts a headcount of 300. It has a number of hit titles in Japan, Korea and China including Boss Vegas, My Fishbowl and Lounge Bar. It originally scored $5 million last year.

According to Tech Crunch the investment will be used for expansion into the West, new smartphone releases for 2012 and to hire new talent.
