Caulfield steps down from IGDA after a year

Executive director leaves industry, organisation continues to restructure

The executive director of the International Game Developers Association, Joshua Caulfield, is to step down from his position next month.

Caulfield only joined the IGDA last July, coming from outside of the industry. The IGDA is currently looking for a new executive director as it continues to reorganise internally.

"It’s just time for the next step in my career," said Caulfield. "I think the IGDA is headed in a great direction, and I look forward to helping to make this a smooth transition."

The board of directors at the IGDA has put in place a new committee system focused on Membership, Policy and Advocacy, Events, Sponsorships and Partners, Technology, Marketing and Communications and Special Interest Groups and Chapters. The organisation said that it would detail the work of each committee in the coming months.

"We wish Joshua the best in his future endeavours," offered Gordon Bellamy, chair of the board of Directors. "It’s absolutely an amicable parting, and we appreciate all the hard work and dedication Joshua has poured into being our executive director over the last year."

"We’re going to come through this a stronger, better organisation and we’re making our volunteers an integral part of the change. We’ll keep everyone informed as these roles are filled in the coming weeks and as the IGDA continues to evolve."
