Capcom has picked up the licence to publish MotoGP games on PlayStation formats in the US and Europe.

Until now, MotoGP games have been published on PSP and PS2 by Namco, while THQ publishes the series for Xbox 360 and PC.

Capcom will release the PS2 version of MotoGP '07 in Europe and the US this autumn. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but it's expected that PSP and PS3 versions will follow.

Speaking at the publisher's Gamers' Day event in San Francisco last week, Capcom's Mark Beaumont said the project "clearly demonstrates Capcom's intent to broaden its portfolio to include both original and licensed IP, work with the best developer talent and brands from across the globe to create new exciting gaming experiences".

Also on unveiled at the event were new instalments in the Phoenix Wright and Mega Man series for DS, new downloadable games for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and a Harvey Birdman title for PS2 and PSP.
