Capcom insists no link between MaXplosion and 'Splosion Man

Says mobile development team had no contact with Twisted Pixel's title

Capcom has insisted that the team which developed its App Store title MaXplosion had no influence from Twisted Pixel's XBLA game 'Splosion man, expressing regret at the games' similarities.

Twisted Pixel hit out at the Japanese publisher on Wednesday, calling MaXplosion a "complete theft" of 'Splosion Man's ideas, pointing out that it had actually taken the game to Capcom prior to release to try and secure a publishing deal.

"While Twisted Pixel did have discussions with our console game team about publishing Splosion Man on game consoles, Capcom Mobile is a different division of Capcom with separate offices and, as such, had no prior knowledge of any meetings between the console game team and Twisted Pixel," Capcom told Joystiq yesterday.

"MaXplosion was developed independently by Capcom Mobile. Nonetheless, we are saddened by this situation and hope to rebuild the trust of our fans and friends in the gaming community."
