Capcom has announced that the Xbox 360 exclusive title Dead Rising has shipped over one million copies worldwide, as of December 31st 2006.

The title, released in August, has been a success for a publisher willing to create fresh IP at the beginning of a new console generation.

And according to Mark Beaumont, executive vice president and head of consumer software for Capcom, the new zombie franchise will return to consoles in the future.

"When you're at the front-end of a hardware cycle, people are willing to take more of an experiment in what games they'll try," said Beaumont, speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz.

"Bringing out Dead Rising has allowed us to establish a new franchise that we can use for years to come," he added.
