Buffy MMO dev closes its doors

Online tech company Multiverse shutters following financial problems

The online technology developer Multiverse has closed due to a lack of funding.

Multiverse, founded in 2004, created the Multiverse Platform to allow MMO developers to create online games cheaply and efficiently. The company has also working with 20th Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising on an MMO based on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer IP since around 2008.

A statement released on the Multiverse website claims that despite interest in the Multiverse Platform from "thousands of developers," the company "wasn't able to achieve a profitable business model."

"As a result, Multiverse ceased operations in December 2011 due to lack of funding."

The maintenance and development of the Multiverse Platform will now be handled by its community through a SourceForge project. For more information visit the Multiverse forums.
