Broken Sword: The Director's Cut

Cutting a dash on the App Store now.

London -- January 25, 2010 -- Revolution Software today announced its latest adventure, Broken Sword: The Director's Cut is now available from the App Store.

Developed specifically for iPhone and iPod touch, the Broken Sword: The Director's Cut App is an update of the classic adventure which introduced George Stobbard, Nico Collard and the conspiracy of the Knights Templar in an epic narrative spanning the globe. One of the all-time classic adventures, the multi BAFTA-nominated game pitches sassy journalist Nico Collard and intrepid American George Stobbart into a mysterious journey of intrigue and jeopardy.

"I am very proud that the game, and indeed the whole series, has maintained such a loyal following," says Charles Cecil, managing director, Revolution Software. "Since the launch of iPhone we have been bombarded with requests from fans to produce an app and the innovative Multi-Touch user interface is perfect for an adventure game - it really works very well."

Graphically, Broken Sword: The Director's Cut benefits from the introduction of new cut-scenes and animations from celebrated comic book artist Dave Gibbons. A context-sensitive help system offers a range of in-game hints for those stumped by the game's ingenious puzzles. The game also utilises an improved version of the widely-praised control mechanism premiered in Beneath a Steel Sky - Remastered.

A massive smash on its original release, the Director's Cut includes a significant amount of content not featured in the original version, adding approximately 20 per cent to the total play time.

Broken Sword: The Director's Cut begins with Nico Collard's investigation into a brutal murder, and continues at a breakneck pace, as events collide in a race-against-time as the two heroes must thwart a dark conspiracy to reveal secret truths. The game introduces an intricate new narrative thread, alongside the classic story that charmed a generation. It's time to experience George and Nico's worldwide adventure in a whole new way, with brand new puzzles, hilarious new jokes, and the distinctive, rich story that made the series so deservedly renowned: a chance for a new generation to discover one of the finest examples of the genre.

The Broken Sword: The Director's Cut App is available now in the UK, Europe, and US for £3.99 / €5.49 / $6.99 from Apple's App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.

Screen Yorkshire, the Regional Screen Agency for Yorkshire and Humber, invested in the production of Broken Sword: Director's Cut.
