BioWare confirms new IP, more Mass Effect

Mass Effect and Dragon Age will be joined by…?

With the retirement of BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, BioWare Montreal and Edmonton general manager Aaryn Flynn took the chance to outline the label's vision for the future. This vision not only includes Dragon Age III: Inquisition and Mass Effect 3 downloadable content, but also a new title in the Mass Effect franchise and a brand-new IP.

"Both Dragon Age and Mass Effect started as single games but grew into vast universes. But we aren't stopping there. While Casey continues to oversee the development of our new Mass Effect project, he and his leads are putting together their vision for an all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology," in a post on the official Bioware blog.

"The Mass Effect universe is vast, and Casey and our teams have plans for another full game. 'Where to go next?' with such a project has been a question a lot of us have been asking, and we'd all love to hear your ideas."

"Ray and Greg built BioWare to last. They've always known their retirement would come one day, so they developed a team of people who would ensure their standards and culture would endure. We'll humbly carry that torch and continue learning in the process," he added.

BioWare's next nominal release will be the Omega downloadable content for Mass Effect 3, coming this Fall. Perhaps after that, players can look forward to enjoying the new adventures of "Commander Shepard", a new hero/heroine named for the legendary first human Spectre.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
