Bigpoint CEO wins business award

Heiko Hubertz named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Investor AllStars Venture Capital Awards

Heiko Hubertz, CEO of German game company Bigpoint, has been awarded the title of Entrepreneur of the Year by the Investor AllStars Venture Capital Awards.

"This is a fantastic accolade for Bigpoint and me personally," said Hubertz.

"2011 has continued to see our company defined by a sustained level of expansion and innovation: the addition of former Planet Moon Studios employees, our recapitalization and the recent takeover of the 49Games production team illustrate how we are realising our ambitious growth strategy while simultaneously delivering the optimum user experience to our growing global customer base."

The Investor AllStars Venture Capital Awards is organised by  investment banking firm GP Bullhound and magazine Business XL, and sponsored by MTI Partners. The ceremony took place at the Natural History Museum.

"We look forward to building on this momentum in 2012 and beyond, as we seek to accelerate our global expansion and provide the optimum multi-platform online gaming experience to our customers the world over," added Hubertz.

Bigpoint, which currently has over 5 million users for its Battlestar Galactica Online game alone, recently acquired the 49Games development team.
