Character AI middleware reaches version 2.0.

Puchheim, 13 August 2009: Just a few short time after the successful launch of EKI One 1.5, Artificial Technology GmbH presents the next version of the pioneering middleware. Extending the functionality of the modular software technology to a new domain, online game developers, too, can now implement artificial intelligence in their releases.

Serein Pfeiffer, technical director and co-founder of the Bavarian company, is pleased with the introduction of the enhanced version: “The team at Artificial is particularly proud of having released a version that allows online game designers to access the world of artificial and emotional intelligence.” His colleague Frank Gwosdz, Artificial Technology GmbH’s CEO, adds: “True to our vision of ‘bringing bytes to life’, now nothing stands in the way of the

creation of authentic virtual worlds.”

Like its predecessor EKI One 1.0, the new version consists of three components: EKI One Engine, the core element and base technology, EKI One Configurator as the graphical user interface, and EKI One Support, rounding out the package with extensive customer services. Apart from the reworked layout and design, the major advancement of this optimized version of the software solution is its expanded and diversified applicability. Pfeiffer explains: “The optimized server-client architecture lets developers populate MMO worlds with thousands of computer-controlled characters without having to concern themselves with technical details such as distributing the system load for behavior simulation.” Online game design studios will benefit from the holistic approach of EKI One 2.0 which will significantly reduce development cycles and costs.

The first response showing that Artificial’s development of an online-applicable version of EKI One is right on the mark already came at this year’s CGO in Leipzig. Professionals and visitors from Germany and around the world were thrilled and are eagerly awaiting the official release in August 2009.
