Eidos drops internal consumer PR team

Consumer duties to be handled by external agency, marketing execs to co-ordinate some PR duties

Eidos UK has decided to drop its internal consumer PR department and hand duties over to Barrington Harvey PR.

The move follows the company's decision to axe 25 per cent of staff, cancel 14 projects and reorganise its internal structure as part of a radical business overhaul.

The UK's two dedicated consumer PR execs, Gareth Ramsey and Rachael Grant, will remain with the Tomb Raider publisher.

"While both of us will remain at the company, the internal restructure will mean that we will move from the PR department to exciting new opportunities," said Ramsey.

Update: Eidos has told GamesIndustry.biz that Chris Glover is to remain as group communications director for the publisher, with the UK marketing team now taking on PR duties and management of external agencies.

"Barrington Harvey have been taken on board to assist in handling the specialist and consumer PR for many of the up and coming Eidos titles," confirmed a spokesperson.
