Major indie devs join GamesIndustry.biz Investment Summit speaker line-up

Pixel Reef, Funomena, Fireproof Games, Capy Games, Velan Studios and Snapshot Games

Pixel Reef, Funomena, Fireproof Games, Capy Games and Snapshot Games have joined the GamesIndustry.biz Investment Summit at PAX East.

Eric Chahi of Pixel Reef, Robin Hunicke of Funomena, Barry Meade of Fireproof Games and Kris Piotrowski of Capy Games will be part of Shuhei Yoshida's panel. The PlayStation legend will explore topics around the creative process and how that's impacted by industry trends such as AI, cloud, esports and AR/VR.

Meanwhile, our closing games investment panel will feature David Kaye of Snapshot Games, the team behind Phoenix Point. Kaye will be able to talk about his experiences with crowd-funding, Xbox Game Pass, Epic Store and other investment opportunites. The panel will be hosted by GamesIndustry.biz writer Rebekah Valentine and will also feature Velan Ventures boss Guha Bala. As well as being an investor, Bala is a developer who co-founded Activision's Vicarious Visions. He currently leads Velan Studios with his brother, and the two are working on a new secret project for Electronic Arts.

The panelists join existing speakers Anya Combs (Kickstarter), Aaron Davies (Oculus) and David Daniels (Xsolla). Our final two speakers will be announced next week.

This year's Summit takes place in Boston on Thursday, February 27th. Tickets for the event are on sale here for indie developers. They include PAX East passes for Thursday and Friday. Publishers and investors looking to attend and to meet with developers, can book a meeting table via Jamie.Sefton@gamesindustry.biz.

The talks and panels make up the morning of the event. A networking lunch follows, and then the meeting system begins. Ticket buyers are asked to fill in a form that details themselves and their game. That form is presented to all attending investors and publishers, who will then pick which developers they'd like to see. We can guarantee every publisher will see your form, but we cannot guarantee meetings on the day.

Publishers and investors currently set to attend are PlayStation, Oculus, Ubisoft, Sega, Gearbox, Kowloon Nights, TinyBuild, Merge Games, Humble Bundle, Neowiz, Hypetrain Digital, Sold Out, Super.com, Graffiti Games, Snail Games and Xsolla. Many more will be announced in the coming days.

More than 50 indie developers have so far signed up to the event.

Xsolla is the headline sponsor for the event, which will take place at the Aloft Hotel next door to PAX East in Boston. Interested in being a sponsor for the Investment Summit? Contact our events manager Charlotte Nangle through here.
