Arkham City ships 4.6 million in week one

Rocksteady's Batman sequel doubles figures of original

Recent Batman sequel Arkham City shipped 4.6 million copies in its first week on sale, more than doubling the figure of its predecessor.

The game launched on October 18 in the US and in Europe on October 21, meeting with overwhelmingly positive critical coverage and hitting the UK's number one. The game currently has a 96 per cent average on PS3 and 95 per cent on Xbox 360.

"Batman: Arkham City is one of the best action adventure games, proven by the tremendous reviews, and it further establishes the Batman brand as a marquee franchise for our growing business," said Warner interactive president  Martin Tremblay.

"The true test for any game is what the players think and we have been thrilled by their reaction to Batman: Arkham City," added Rocksteady's Sefton Hill "The team at Rocksteady put every ounce of effort into making the best Batman experience we possibly could, so we are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback from the community."
