Antix Game Player

TV games platform available on tellies using MStar chips.

29th September, 2010: Reading/Theale UK – The high performance Antix Game Player from Antix Labs is now available on televisions using single chip TV solutions from MStar Semiconductor, the world’s foremost supplier of solutions for TVs and a leading supplier of ICs across connected mobile and CE devices.

Consumption of games has moved from participation by a narrow sector of the population to the mainstream and with it, there has been a related explosion in the size of the market for games on phones. With the rapid growth in the global connected TV market, there is now an urgent demand to meet consumers’ aspirations for high quality gaming services on TVs as well. MStar has taken the lead by working with Antix to offer a comprehensive end-to-end and high performance games service including content and store supported by MStar’s internet connected TV platforms.

Antix Labs’ native games use a secure file format, similar in concept to MP3 for music or MPEG for video. Consumers use the Antix Game Player to play high performance content and create a truly seamless experience across different devices such as TVs, tablets and phones, and then copied and virally shared with their friends and family, across the cloud or M2M off-network.

“The Antix Game player is a complete product and gives all our TV customers a simple way to meet the demands of an increasingly expectant market by offering the user best-in-class, casual and premium gaming services with downloadable native content,” said Trevor Neal, Vice President of MStar.

“MStar’s success in supplying TV solutions has been remarkable. Antix’s products and its associated publishing community enable MStar to strengthen its comprehensive solutions in TV and also across the many other screens in which MStar is active and taking increasing market share,” said Francis Charig, Antix’s Chief Executive.

About Antix Labs

The Antix Game Player (AGP) is an on-device software client for native games services licensed to multiple tier one device makers manufacturing TVs, phones, tablets and other connected devices. Third party casual, advanced casual and premium games are distributed in a device-independent format similar in concept to MP3 or PDF. This format lets consumers access and share games from any of their connected Antix-powered 'screens'. In much the same way as they do already with music, photos and videos, consumers can distribute trial games virally across networks and off-line to their friends and family while still protecting the rights and revenues of operators and publishers. In addition to AGP itself, Antix provides the corresponding tools, certification mechanism, optional white-label store, and optional game warehousing necessary to deploy a complete service offering.

Antix Labs Ltd., headquartered in Reading, England was founded by Francis Charig, a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer.
