1,000 Dreams in partnership with Twitch to support female streamers
Plans to raise money for BroadcastHER Grant through Women's History Month streaming event
With Women's History Month just days away, Twitch has partnered with the 1,000 Dreams Fund in order to promote female streamers.
From March 1 until April 1, Twitch will be running a charity streaming event to raise money for the 1,000 Dreams Fund.
The charity - which aims to provide scholarship funding to 1,000 women - has established the BroadcastHER Grant to offer financial assistance to aspiring female streamers.
The streaming event aims to raise awareness of the challenges women face when they seek financial support for creative projects; funds raised during the event will go towards offering the BroadcastHER grant.
Two or more grants of a minimum of $500 and a maximum of $2,000 will be awarded each semester, on May 1 and October 1 respectively. The grant aims to help cover the costs of travel to gaming and educational conferences, hardware upgrades, and instructional programs in creative or artistic pursuits.
The grant is open to all female Twitch Affiliates and Partners, though preference is granted to applicants enrolled in high-school, college, or graduate school.
"As an organization committed to all dreams, we are excited to partner with members of the Twitch community on this amazing new campaign," 1,000 Dreams Fund CEO Christie Garton said in a statement. "The initiative will not only raise critical funds, but will also boost awareness around the shortage of support for these creative young women in the digital broadcasting space."
