Facebook-based horticulture with share of profits going to a cancer charity.
PALO ALTO, CA – JUNE 18, 2009 – Hive7, developer of social games on Facebook, Bebo, and MySpace, announced today the Facebook launch of Zen Garden developed with Socialsoft, Inc. Ten percent of the profits of Zen Garden will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the largest breast cancer advocacy organization with a minimum donation of $25,000 to help fund life-saving breast cancer research and community outreach projects.
Zen Garden is available today at http://apps.facebook.com/zen-garden.
“Hive7 believes that combining our beautiful game Zen Garden with a great charity like Komen for the Cure is a perfect fit. We are very proud to be the first game on Facebook to be partnered with Komen,” said Rob Carroll, Hive7 Producer. “We’re pleased to announce that during the period from May 15, 2009 through May 14, 2010, Hive7 and Socialsoft will donate 10% of the retail price of all in-game money sold, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $25,000.00.”
The game quality of Zen Garden combined with demonstrated social responsibility is helping Hive7 quickly rise to the top ranks of Facebook game developers.
In Zen Garden, players can send and receive a variety of beautiful plants to create their own perfect little space. Gardens can be on rooftops, in backyards, and community settings. Gamers can even create a tranquil Japanese garden. An extensive and realistic library of over 75 plants and items includes rose trellises, gazebos, hedges, topiary ducks, Japanese Maples, and running streams.
Players can write and post stories, allowing their friends to write stories along with them.
Zen Garden is a creative and entertaining game for all ages. Parents need not be concerned about violence or inappropriate activity.
Zen Garden is free to play, and players receive free in-game currency – called Zennies – and new plants daily. Additional game items can be purchased for $0.10 up to $1.00. Items such as outdoor umbrellas, lawn chairs, and barbeques make a player’s garden space more fun and enjoyable. Purchases of additional garden items can be made via credit card and online payment system PayPal.
