X³: Reunion: Look Upon A Whole New Galaxy

BASINGSTOKE, England (August 5th 2005) - As development of X³: REUNION moves smoothly towards its late October release date; developer EGOSOFT today unveiled some of the stunning visuals, which will define X³ as a 'bench mark' in the space combat/trading genre. Bernd Lehahn, CEO of Egosoft comments on the technical aspects of the game and what the team are trying to achieve from a visual perspective.

"As X³: Reunion approaches the beta testing phases it is great to be able to finally release some of the in-game screens to really show off what the game looks like. A still image can't do justice to some of them, but we can show some of the aspects of the game which we have been talking about over the past few months."

"What is very apparent now is the work put into designing specific shaders per race as well as different ship designs. This really adds character and depth to the game from a visual perspective and is unrivalled in the genre. Viewed live and in motion the lighting effects are incredibly lifelike."

"We have made some of the universe sectors now to be in low orbit around planets, which themselves are now detailed in photo-quality. This produces stunning visuals on a par with recent images of the NASA shuttle being repaired in low Earth orbit. There are also now many different types of planet to add variety and colour to each part of the universe, and to each race as well."

"Finally, we also have some first looks at the new weapon effects. We are able to display in some detail now how the ships flame and burn after they have been struck."
