XLEAGUE anniversary

31 July PRESS RELEASE – for immediate use

Portland TV’s landmark console gaming platform XLEAGUE celebrates the success of its first year with a new line up of free gaming from today, 1 August.

XLEAGUE are offering four free gaming ladders, with new games added every week for the next two months to pilot the new platform. The first four games available on 1 August are - FIFA08 (Xbox 360 and PS3), Call of Duty 4 (Xbox 360 and PS3), Smash Brothers (Wii), Unreal Tournament 3 (Xbox 360 and PS3).

XLEAGUE, the largest console gaming community outside of Xbox LIVE, offers gamers from across the globe the chance to play against each other by entering into ladders and tournaments for a chance to become champions.

Anyone can register at www.xleague.tv, and play in the ladders completely free of charge. Registering also entitles gamers to two free credits* on entering their first ladder. Players can build their credits and use them to enter into tournaments, where players have a chance to win prizes.

Ray Mia, Head of XLEAGUE Channel Development says of the new platform: “The gaming community moves on so fast it’s difficult to keep up with demand. For us, we have found that the more competitive the leagues of players is, the more new challenges they are seeking to pit their abilities against. Free gaming is a sustainable solution we can offer. It allows players across the globe to play against each other and gain competitive benefits along the way.

When asked about the recent changes to XLEAGUE, Mia added: “The channel has been running for a year, and I think it’s fair to say that we didn’t envisage having to make this platform available so soon. Thankfully when the channel was originally set up it was designed to be flexible enough to adapt to changes very quickly. Programming and competitive gaming is still very much a part of the channel, this platform simply allows gamers to play sooner, and build their skills.”
