Microsoft has revealed the Xbox 360 has a software attach rate of 5.3 units to each console, not including Xbox Live Arcade titles.

Vice president Peter Moore revealed in a note to the press that he believes the Xbox Live service, which currently boasts 5 million users, is well on its way to the company's target of six million users by June 2007.

And with 10.4 million units sold by the end of 2006, the company expects to ship between 13 and 15 million Xbox 360's by the end of the fiscal year.

Moore is especially proud of the success of Xbox Live, with Microsoft's figures stating that 70 per cent of Xbox Live members have downloaded content from the Live Marketplace, totalling 100 million pieces of content and 20 million Live Arcade titles.

With two million text, voice and picture messages sent every day, Moore also revealed that Xbox Live Gold members have an average of 21 users on their Friends list.
