LONDON, UK - 30 August, 2005 - The 5th annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) Europe kicks off today at the Café Royal in London, and runs through Thursday, 1 September. The GDC Europe is the core event for game development professionals in Europe who wish to shape the industry and expand the resources, tools and technologies they use to create next generation games. The annual event is the principal gathering place where European professionals will help set the agenda for interactive entertainment for years to come.

This year's conference builds upon the Future Vision theme, recently unveiled at the 2005 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco this past March. To that end, GDC Europe has assembled an impressive lineup of keynote sessions focused on the future of games. Attendees will hear from and interact with powerhouse executives representing Sony and Microsoft in addition to celebrated game developer Keita Takahashi whose Katamari Damacy has created waves throughout the video game industry. GDC Europe's Mobile Seminar will also feature market-defining content and a keynote by John Cahill with Yahoo! Games. Through three days of lectures, keynotes, panels, and tutorials, industry leaders will paint the future of the games business, and focus on the road ahead for developers.

"GDC Europe provides the European game development community an essential forum in which to learn and network," said Jamil Moledina, director, Game Developers Conference Europe. "Through visionary speakers and content, the event will inform, inspire, and influence European professionals to help set the global agenda for interactive entertainment."

The event will also feature an exhibit area showcasing top game industry tools and technology vendors. The GDC Europe exhibit area is open during conference hours.
