World Of Warcraft: Legion sells 3.3m on launch day

Patch 7.1: Return to Karazhan already in the works

The latest World Of Warcraft expansion, Legion, sold through more than 3.3 million copies on its first day of sale. Blizzard Entertainment also reported that it saw its highest launch-week player concurrency since the 2010 launch of Cataclysm.

"It's been a thrill to see players hunting demons, powering up Artifacts, and freely exploring all the new zones in Legion," commented Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.

"We worked hard to make this the best World of Warcraft expansion yet, and we look forward to providing players with even more content as Legion's epic story unfolds in the months ahead."

World of Warcraft: Legion sold as the Standard Edition at $50 and a Digital Deluxe Edition at $70. There was also a limited Collector's Edition for $90. The expansion is now live in the Americas, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, China, Korea, and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau
