This year's WCG official PC titles are: Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, FIFA 06, Starcraft: Brood War, Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Warhammer 40,000: Winter Assault. Official Xbox 360 titles are: Dead or Alive 4 and Project Gotham Racing 3.

This year's WCG live event program will also include a number of U.S. only competition titles, which encompass some of the most popular console games in the US. These include: Madden NFL 06, Major League Baseball 2K6, Halo 2 and Geometry Wars for the Xbox and Xbox 360.

Winners from the online preliminaries will qualify to compete in Pacific, Midwest, South or Northeast regional events held in June, July and August. All finalists will be flown to the U.S. National Final to be held in September (location and dates TBA). The winners of the U.S. National Final represent the country's best gamers and will form Team USA and will be flown to the WCG Grand Finals in Monza, Italy (October 18 - 22) to defend its title of overall Grand Champion against 700 gamers from 70 countries around the world.

Over $2.5 million in cash and prizes were awarded in 2005. Microsoft is now the premier sponsor of the WCG, while Samsung continues as the WCG worldwide sponsor.
