VUG Mobile announces Empire Earth

Exclusive mobile version of hit strategy series available in October

The mobile division of major videogames publisher Vivendi Universal Games has announced the launch of Empire Earth Mobile - a new title based on the award-winning PC strategy series, which has been redesigned for fluid, one-button gameplay and will be available for purchase and download this month.

Building on the critical and commercial success of Empire Earth, which has sold more than 2 million copies worldwide since its launch in 2001, Vivendi Universal Games Mobile has recreated the real-time historical strategy series specifically for mobile handsets.

Featuring four distinct ages to conquer, spanning 2,000 years of human civilisation, Empire Earth mobile includes a real combat system with 13 unique units and five combat criteria, in addition to strategic resource management for four different resources.

New features and different units are introduced as each age is conquered, and players are encouraged to engage in historical conflicts throughout the ages, such as French vs. English in the Middle Ages. The game includes three difficulties, and three game modes including player vs. player on a single handset.

Empire Earth will be distributed by Wonderphone, further strengthening the relationship between the two companies. Wonderphone currently distributes VU Games' products for the mobile platform in Europe, South and Central America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Kuwait, Bahrain and Fiji.

Since the original distribution deal signed in 2004, Wonderphone has continued to extend its relationship with VUG, utilising an extensive network of major global operators and Internet download service providers to distribute a range of content based on the VUG's hit console franchises.

The company has already successfully dealt with the worldwide distribution of mobile games for globally successful franchises including Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon and the SWAT series.
