Visual Science plans trade sale within three years

Scottish independent developer Visual Science has told potential investors at the Connect investment showcase that it plans a trade sale by 2007, with a number of publishers already interested in acquiring the studio.

Speaking at the event, managing director Russell Kay said that the company has "already identified a number of publishers who would be interested in acquiring us," and that 2007 has been set as "our target for a trade sale."

The Dundee-based company, which employs 90 staff, has seen turnover grow rapidly over the past two years, with the figure expected to reach UKP 3.8 million this year, and hopes to raise around UKP 6 million from the Connect event - its first ever major funding round.

According to Kay, the company represents a "clean investment opportunity" for investors, with the intention to sell the firm within the coming three years providing a "clear exit strategy." "We're confident because we know we can deliver," he told the conference.

The firm's successful growth recently led to its inclusion in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 awards, as well as the invitation to the Connect 2004 event, which is a major Scottish business event for growth stage companies.
