Valve continues work on rejected iOS Steam Link app
After initial rejection by Apple, TestFlight version of Steam companion app updates to curb ability to purchase new games
Valve may bring Steam Link to iOS yet. As reported by Touch Arcade, the iOS TestFlight beta was updated last week with a few changes, one of which might help the app get around Apple's prior prohibition of it hitting the App Store.
According to the site, the big change in the update comes on the product pages for the in-app storefront. Whereas players could originally purchase games directly through the app, now it instead tells them the game is available to purchase through their PC. (Valve said that after initially approving the Steam Link app last month, Apple reversed its decision citing "business conflicts that had allegedly not been realized by the initial review team.")
Interestingly, the current version of Steam Link still allows users to make purchases like crate keys for PUBG, provided they already own the game and have the necessary funds in their Steam Wallet. (Users are unable to add funds to their Steam Wallet from within the app.)
The Steam Link app is currently in beta testing on the Google Play store with more than 500,000 installs since its debut last month.
