UK retailer GAME selling Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 early

Extra time agreed upon with Activision so players can download 50GB day one patch

As a way to temper anxious customers eager to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on the day it actually releases, UK retailer GAME will be selling it a bit early.

Eurogamer reports that Black Ops 4 includes a required day one patch that is about 50GB in size. Most modes will need the update fully installed to be launched, though the game's battle royale mode, Blackout, can be played at around the 30% complete mark.

Though the final download is around 55GB total, Activision recommends around 112 GB of free hard-drive space "for an optimized experience."

Because the download is so large, GAME has received permission from Activision to sell Black Ops 4 a few hours early to allow players to install the update. The title will go on sale at 6pm BST on Thursday, October 11, though the game will not be playable until midnight on the 12th.
