UK games courses

Skillset seeking help in assessing the best degree and postgrad courses.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE-------------

Skillset, the UK’s Sector Skills Council for the Creative Media Industries is pushing ahead with its programme of accreditating the best UK Computer Games degree and postgraduate courses, and is looking for more games industry personnel to act as advisors and evaluators.

“We need to signpost and reward the best courses in the UK for the industry” said Computer Games Manager Saint John Walker “and we can only do this with the expertise of the industry itself”.

It is hoped that a wider range of companies and individuals will see the value of helping Skillset assess Art and Programming pathways on Games courses, as well as working on new criteria for Games Design courses.

Skillset is already guided by an industry council comprising of major players such as TIGA, ELSPA, Frontier, Activision, EA, Blitz and chaired by Ian Livingstone of Eidos, but is setting up a wider group of industry personnel who want to get involved. Games companies and personnel interested in improving standards are encouraged to email Nicole Hay at Skillset: nicoleh@skillset.org or on 020 7713 9800
