UK Charts: EA scores a hat-trick in the all formats chart

Electronic Arts maintains its vice-like grip on the top of the sales chart this week, as FIFA 06 digs its heels in at the top.

Electronic Arts has maintained its vice-like grip on the top of the UK sales chart this week, with FIFA Football 2006 digging its heels in at the top oof the ranking, while two more EA titles make up the top three.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06 starts off one under par in second place, and arcade racer Burnout Revenge changes gear, picking up the bronze in third place.

Ubisoft's Far Cry: Instincts slips two places to number five, gunned down in its prime by the elite squad that form Edios' latest, Conflict: Global Terror, which climbs one spot to number four.

Possibly thanks to some serious television advertising campaigns, Midway's free-roaming fisticuffs title Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks jumps three places from ten to seven, but is kept in its place by Black and White 2 - another EA title which enters the chart this week at number six.

SEGA's Spartan: Total Warrior is a new entry at number eight, while the company's Rome: Total War - Barbarian Invasion is scared to the bottom of the top ten by the incessant barking of Nintendo's DS title Nintendogs: Lab and friends. Lab and friends enters the chart at number nine, proving the most popular of the recent litter of Nintendogs titles.

Elsewhere in the charts, Ubisoft enters at sixteen with Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood, and Sniper Elite sets its sights on the top ten, leaping eleven places from twenty six to fifteen in a single week.

Next week could be a different story, as Konami releases FIFA rival, Pro Evolution Soccer 5 at the end of the week. However, amongst the various new releases will be EA's super hero fighter, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, which could help sustain its dominance of the top chart positions.
